Welcome to the Santa Rosa Cycling Club’s Brevet Series for 2010We invite you to join us in exploring some the most scenic and inspiring roads in Northern California. From bases near Santa Rosa, our brevet routes travel in all directions: east through the premier vineyards of Sonoma and Napa Counties; west and south to Marin County and the Point Reyes National Seashore; and north through the hills of Mendocino and Lake Counties, up to and around beautiful Clear Lake.Randonneuring is characterized by the independent self-reliance of its participants. In marked contrast to the lavish support our club provides on the Wine Country Century and Terrible Two Double Century, our brevets are more minimalist: riders are expected to either carry what they need or find it along the way. There is no sag support. (Break a spoke or a cable and you will have to fix it yourself.) Be prepared with a full range of clothing to cope with a wide swing in day and night temperatures over the course of these long events.Checkpoints (or controles) may be located in convenience stores along the routes, which will function as both a source for supplies and as a spot to acquire verification that you are on the route and on schedule.Brevets are not races. Results are recorded in alphabetical order, rather than order of finish. There are both opening and closing times for controles. The closing times are quite lenient, allowing for an average speed of less than ten mph. On the other hand, faster riders who exceed an average of 21 mph may arrive at controles before they open, and if they do, they will simply have to wait until the checkpoints open before proceeding. The 2010 brevet schedule is:Event Date StartTime Limit Fee 200km ACP brevet Map Cue Info Sat 3/13/2010 07:00 13.5 hrs $20 300km ACP brevet Map Cue Info Sat 4/10/2010 06:00 20.0 hrs $25 400km ACP brevet Map Cue Info Sat 5/08/2010 06:00 27.0 hrs $30 600km ACP brevet Map Cue out Cue-in Times Info Sat 6/05/2010 06:00 40.0 hrs $40 Registration Form Here2009 200K Results
